Mother Earth

From the earth we came
To the earth we return
We are born, we laugh, we die, we cry
Mother Earth cares not
A dot among many, a dot among centuries
A moving body smashing against pavement as the bones shatter
A soft purr, a quiet call, eyes shut, face cold
A manifestation of bittersweetness that shimmers like broken glass
Mother Earth cares not
A remembrance that speaks a thousand words
The maiden that sings her song
The place you once slept, the place you once awoke,
the place you once ate, the place you once spoke
The child talking to thin air, he is there and not
Mother Earth will take him, for he is there now he is not
